Welcome to Pyrtle Elementary School, home of the Panthers! Pyrtle opened its doors in 1964 and is named in honor of Emma Ruth Pyrtle.
Pyrtle Elementary serves approximately 420 students in our preschool through fifth grade program. Specialist teachers in art, music, physical education, computer science, and library media use their expertise and talents to provide a well rounded program for our students.
At Pyrtle Elementary School, we provide a caring, safe, and productive environment that promotes high levels of student engagement and effort. Our three school-wide expectations for behavior at Pyrtle Elementary School are: Be safe, be respectful, be responsible.
Pyrtle Elementary School’s talented staff is committed to making school a great experience for our students. Our staff work diligently to provide instruction for students at their success level, differentiating instruction so all students are challenged and feel success. We are committed to 100% student participation in order to engage all students in their learning. We honor the unique strengths, talents, and diversity of each of our students and dedicate our efforts to help each of them experience individual success.
We value the partnership with our parents and our community. Parents know their children best and our partnership is valuable in helping us to support the unique needs of students. We are fortunate to have an active and supportive PTO. The PTO plans and implements school-wide activities that enhance the school by building a positive Pyrtle community spirit. They offer many educational enrichment supports that provide opportunities and experiences for students that otherwise would not exist.
I am thrilled to be joining this successful community and am committed to advancing our mission “Pyrtle’s Community Inspires and Empowers Learners for the Future.”
